Safety and Privacy Online Overview
After I completed my master’s degree in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance, I wrote a cybersecurity books to help the average consumer stay safe online. This is now available on Amazon as well as other retailers and is called “Your Safety and Privacy Online: The CIA and the NSA”. It is available in paperback, hardcover audio, and Kindle format. This book was published under our US based entity called InfoSecHelp LLC in 2019.
Kirkus Reviews published a review of the book which can be found at https://bit.ly/39TQ9DO
Our values are trustworthiness, professionalism, and security. We are a small consulting company located in Garðabær, Iceland. Garðabær is a suburb of Reykjavik, which is the capital of Iceland. Öruggt Net ehf was registered with the Icelandic tax authority on February 21, 2024. We also have a sister company formed in Seattle, WA, called InfoSecHelp LLC., registered on August 20, 2019.
Both companies were founded by Sigurður G Bjarnason (aka Siggi Bjarnason, aka Siggi Supergeek) to help individuals and businesses stay safe online, secure their systems, and reduce the likelihood of cyber incidents.
About Öruggt Net founder
Siggi Bjarnason
Siggi Bjarnason is a seasoned, experienced, and dedicated cybersecurity professional with decades of professional computer experience and online expertise that dates back to the early 1980s. Born in Iceland, Siggi spent much of his adult life in Seattle, Washington, where he was located near the development of a ground-breaking form of technology that would revolutionize the tech industry and the world as we know it.
In the early 1980s, while still a teenager, Siggi began to explore the industry just as a hobby – and by the mid-1990s, he had turned that hobby into a profession. You could say that he was a pioneer in the birth of the Internet when he worked as a network engineer for Microsoft during the Internet’s infancy. Siggi has been online communicating and exploring since the mid-1980s, even though the first public commercial web browser wouldn’t hit the internet until December 1994.
As a proven, tested, and successful IT professional, Siggi spent much of his decades in the industry in various IT positions, working as a data center technician and network engineer for large internet service providers. Also, his technical abilities extend far beyond simple network engineering. Today, he is well-versed in the areas of automation, tooling, scripting, and even vendor and product selection.
Most recently, his career has been immersed in cybersecurity. Since the fall of 2017, he has developed a new approach to assisting those with limited computer experience in designing a safe, secure, and protective cybersecurity strategy to ensure their safety on the web.
Siggi’s newest venture, Öruggt Net ehf, is designed to offer his technical expertise and modern approach to cybersecurity to those who may not be fully aware of the types of threats that can plague their systems. From home computers to small businesses to large organizations, Siggi’s professionalism, expertise in cybersecurity and network engineering, and steadfast dedication to providing his clients with a helping hand to secure their systems are what separate him from the pack.
By starting this new company, he wants to offer his expertise in relating complex topics to non-engineers and those without extensive technical expertise without resorting to scare tactics. Siggi believes that while there are many dangers lurking in today’s systems, you can address and compensate for those dangers without invoking fear of those dangers.
Every day, Siggi’s passion for computers motivates him to continue finding new ways to help people acclimate to the changing digital landscape. By assisting people in remaining safe online and avoiding scams that could damage their systems or their wallets, he can help pave the way for a safer internet—as a true internet pioneer should.
In his free time, Siggi enjoys the simple things in life, like listening to music, attending live theater events, or going ballroom dancing. Additionally, Siggi enjoys volunteering for organizations that help the community around him. He volunteers for the Icelandic Red Cross and other similar organizations. For Siggi, nothing is more important than finding ways to enjoy life, whether that be through computers, working with others, or listening to his favorite album.
